Echos of the High Plains
Bio
Born on a farm in New Mexico, Dickie Lee Erwin is an award-winning singer, lyricist, guitarist and banjo player. Together with his band, Dickie has been an essential part of the alternative country music scene in Austin, Texas since the early 1980s. He has recorded 11 original albums, with music that combines classic country and Americana foundations with jazz improvisations, samba rhythms and psychedelic jam elements. The lyrics of his songs retell every day life experiences, magical stories of the Texas high planes, and the odd and alien things which can happen to one traveling on the endless midnight highways of the US.
Throughout his career, he has toured around the U.S. and Europe, including Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, and Germany.
Dickie Lee Erwin is also a known oil and watercolor painter, capturing the impressive rural landscapes of the Southwest. In 2024 he will release his 12th studio album, SNAKE DOCTOR, and is heading back to Europe for a summer tour with his 4-piece band.

“There’s always a melody floating around in my head. I’ll work out the melody and then start listening for lyrics, which are usually not too far away.”
